This is the site that will keep up up-to-date on our area qualifiers. Send me an email with any questions or thoughts... or just leave me a comment.

State Golf, All NCAA softball

Congrats to RC's Gary Roberts and BJ Boman for their play at the State Golf Tournament at Salina Municipal on Monday, may 19. Boman shot 84 to place in a tie for 37th. Roberts lead the tournament after the front 9 at 35. He came home in 41 for a 76. Roberts went on to win a playoff for fourth place. Out of 104 total golfers, both Buffs were in the top 37, great job!

Also congrats to Jessica Wollenberg, who garnered All-NCAA softball honors as a utility player. Jess lead the team in batting, and was solid in the cirlce all year. The team did very well this year, despite playing a number of freshman and sophomores. Good news... all but one senior (Kaitlin Miller) will be back in 2009!

Regionals are in...

Whew! What a weekend! Regional track saw many great performances, and some disapointments. Click here for a look at the area state qualifiers. As always, congratulations on your work this season. The reward is a trip to Wichita State University's Cessna Stadium. I'll have more this week on the coverage up coming this weekend.

Regional track

One last push for the HS sports scene goes today, as area tracksters go to regionals. Top finishers will go to Wichita next week.

Republic County travels to Rock Creek HS
Pike Valley is in Mankato at Rock Hills HS
Concordia looks to keep their amazing run going at Colby HS
Clifton/Clyde heads to Washinton Co HS

Best of luck to all the area participants. I'll have a special link on the main site for all the qualifiers Monday!

Lady Buffs Softball

The ladies picked up a win in the first round of regionals Monday against Bennington, 10-2. Jessica Wollenberg turned in a great performance on the mound, 16 strikeouts, 3 hits and 1 earned run. She also scored 4 runs of her own, part of a great hitting night for the Buffs.

Next up, league foe Southeast of Saline Tuesday in Salina at 4:30pm. SES won a pair in Belleville to start the season, but RCismuch better now than they were then. GO BUFFS!!!

The first non-sports post

I got this link in an email from a friend in Indiana. Not matter what you think of the war in Iraq, one thing that everyone in this country can agree on is that we hope every single person fighting for our freedoms comes home safe, and the sooner the better. God Bless America!
