Pike Valley Cross Country Teams Prepare for Season

The Pike Valley HS Cross Country Program has begun its season with 15 runners on the team.  There are currently 7 girls and 8 boys on this year’s team.  Seniors on the team are Morgan Ehlers, Mara Engelbert, Carly Freed, Braden Larson, Brigham Larson, and Devin Kreie.  Juniors include Ty Bivens and Cole Callaway.  Sophomores include Madi Colson, Courtney Cox, and Quinton Isaacson.  The freshman runners are Kameron Blanding, Courtney Freed, Brooke Jensen, and Dallas Looper.

The intrasquad Time Trials (the Cross Country equivalent to a soap scrimmage) will be on Thursday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m.  The location will be the Buffalo Park Golf Course on Highway-36 in Scandia.  The girls will race 4K (2.48 miles) and the boys will race 5K (3.11 miles).  The Alumni and Community are invited to attend and may participate if they wish.  The team will have a parents’ meeting at the clubhouse after the races, approximately 8:00 p.m.

I am excited to start this season and am really looking forward to the opportunity to coach these fine young athletes.  Hopes are high for a return to the Class 1A State Meet in Wamego on October 30, 2010.

3 Lady Buffs earn ALL-ACADEMIC AWARD

KANSAS VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION ALL-ACADEMIC AWARD 

    The Kansas Volleyball Association has released the Kansas Volleyball All-Academic Teams for last season (2009).  The All-Academic Team is designed to honor high school excellence in the classroom. To be eligible to receive this award, players must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent on another scale, during the first semester of the current school year.  Only a player who has earned a varsity letter during the current season according to her school’s requirements is eligible for the award.  The Republic County Buffs has three recipients of this award from the 2009 season.  Erica Hadachek was honored for being a member of the 2009 Kansas Volleyball All-Academic Team, and Celsey Beneda and Callie Brzon received the honor of the 2009 Kansas Volleyball All-Academic Honorable Mention Team.

    High School?  Come one, come all Belleville, Hillcrest, Republic County Alumni volleyball
    players for some exciting fun and just an all out good time.  We are very excited for the
    season to start and to experience all the successes that are in store for our program!!!

Big 12 Pick em is back!!!

For the 3rd year, we'll be doing the Big 12 Pick em challenge with anyone who wants in.  I always stress, THERE IS NO MONEY INVOLVED WHATSOEVER.  This is purely for entertainment.  Email me at

and I'll post the picks here.  We'll start with just predicting the finishing order for the Big 12, both North and South.  You'll also have to select the winner of the Championship game.  Should there be a tie, we'll pick the score for the Big 12 champ. 

New this year, we'll also be doing a weekly pick 'em.  Mostly Big 12 games, with a few important national games as well. I'll give you a list of games each Monday, and you respond with your winners, easy as that!!  It should be fun.  So again, just shoot me an email with your Big 12 picks, and I'll use that email for the weekly pick em!  Good luck!
