Checking in with Ian

Checking up on Ian Peters, Pike Valley grad and KSU football walk on. I asked Ian what the off season has been like so far with Coach Snyder...

We have lifting and running Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each lasting about 2 hours. They have designated times for lifting so it fits into your schedule. After running we have 7 on 7 without coaches. On Tuesday's and Thursday's we have position meetings that last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. We also have to get 8 hours of what is called "study table",basically just time for us to study at Vanier, which has to be completed between Sunday and Thursday. Personally, as well as a majority of the guys, lift at 6 a.m. because of classes during the day. Coaches are great, and really seem to know there stuff, but i guess thats kind of an obvious statement. Coach Bill Snyder is very inspirational, and is always challenging not only us to be the best we can be, but himself and the coaching staff everyday as well. There's always room for improvement, and I couldn't agree more. I just look at what the man's done and he knows what it takes
.

Check back for more updates from Ian throughout the spring!

Pike Valley vs Linn

Games have been cancelled for tonight and they will NOT be made up. Linn is facing a big flu bug and would be missing a huge chunk of the teams. Keep in mind, this isn't a forfiet, just a cancellation. Pike Valley will Travel to Kensington to take on Thunder Ridge Tuesday, Feb 17 to wrap up the regular season.

RC at Clay Center

Fantastic game for the Lady Buffs (6-10), who knocked off a salty Clay Center (8-8) team on the road. Late baskets from Jessica Wollenberg, Lacie Shoemaker, and 2 free throws from Celsey Beneda with :07 left proves to be the difference, 55-51 for the good girls.

The newest Cat

Some of you heard last week, the big news that former Pike Valley Panthers Ian Peters has been accepted as a walk-on as part of the Kansas State football team. What a tremendous honor for Ian, and a great source of pride for everyone in our communities. While he was listed as a new recruit for Coach Snyder, I know ian's excited to get to work. Winter conditioning began Feb 2! Here's what ian had to say when i asked him what he's feeling...

"I guess to start things off I owe a lot of thank-yous to a lot of people. There is too many to name off. My family and virtually the entire community have supported me all through high school, and even after; however, my biggest thank you goes out to God. He not only blessed me with the support of a loving family and community, but placing me in the right spot at the right time. I truly and sincerely appreciate everyone's congratulations and support, and want to take this time to say...thank you everyone."

I'll try to get some updates from Ian for you die-hard Catbackers. There's hope anew with Coach Snyder back, and with Ian, the Cat's chances at victory just went up! Congrats Ian, we're so proud!
