6:00 pm in Quinter

Pike Valley will take to the raod in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm in Quinter. Long trip, we'll see if the Panthers make it worth it!

Regular season comes to a close

Tonight Republic County heads east on Highway 36 to tangle with Bulldogs of Marysville. It's the final game of the season for the Buffs, who have endured injuries and a brutal schedule during a winless season so far. One thing stand up and cheer for has been the effort; these guys haven't quit yet.

Next week holds the promise of post season play. Pike Valley is at home against Southern Cloud tonight, and a win secures a spot in the 8 man 1 playoffs. Clifton-Clyde plays at Rock Hills in Mankato in an attempt to win a third straight district championship. We'll follow the Panthers and/or Eagles as they march on to STATE!

Also tonight, tune in at 6:05 pm for a special presentation. Members of the Republic County Ball Complex Commission will be doing a question and answer session with me. It's an effort on behalf of those involved in the planning stages to get as much information out as possible. If you care about the future of the youth of our communities, you'll want to listen in.

Big games on Thursday

Huge implications for a couple teams eyeing the playoffs this Thursday. We'll start in 8 man Div 1, District 8.

Games: 4-0 Clifton-Clyde (84) at 3-1 Rock Hills (24); 3-1 Pike Valley (42) vs 2-2 Southern Cloud (-28)

Scenario 1: Clifton-Clyde beats Rock Hills, Pike Valley beats Southern Cloud.

C-C and PV have the most playoff points so far. If they both win, they're in. The Eagles would be district champs and host their first round playoff game, while Pike Valley would be on the road. That's the easy one.

Scenario 2: C-C beats RH, SC beats PV. C-C district champs, PV still ok, because they would own a head-to-head advantage over RH.

Scenario 3: RH beats C-C, SC beats PV.

RH is your district champ, C/C moves on, PV stays home.

Scenario 4: RH beats C-C, PV beats SC.

C-C district champs, PV in playoffs.

Basically, C-C and PV control their own destiny. Win and you're in!

4A district 16 with Concordia to come this afternoon.

We goin' to the 'ship...

Jaclyn Sheets will lead the Republic County Lady Buffs Cross Country team into the State Meet at Wamego this Saturday. The girls won the Regional Meet in Washington, placing all 7 runners in the top 20!

Not to be outdone, the guys secured a State berth with a 3rd place team finish. Jimmy Phitts lead the squad with a 4th place finish, while fellow senior Colton Grove came home 9th!

GOOD LUCK AND GO BUFFS!!!

My bad, I missed it..

this morning. Complete results of the RC volleyball team at Sacred heart last night.

JV lost 19-25, 14-25 and 23-25, 17-25

"C" won 25-12, 20-25, 15-9

RC JV 14 Sacred Heart 0

Great game played Monday, 10/6 by the Republic County JV football team. Jevonte Dyke had 2 great touchdown runs, and team forced a safety after SH snapped a ball over their punters head.

Best news of the night? GREAT DEFENSE!!!!! It was very encouraging to see the guys come out fired up, played sound fundamentals, and tackled well. All of those are things you must do to play great defense. Well done JV!!!

Now for the varsity...

Keeping up with the Panthers
