Pike Valley Cross Country Teams Prepare for Season

The Pike Valley HS Cross Country Program has begun its season with 15 runners on the team.  There are currently 7 girls and 8 boys on this year’s team.  Seniors on the team are Morgan Ehlers, Mara Engelbert, Carly Freed, Braden Larson, Brigham Larson, and Devin Kreie.  Juniors include Ty Bivens and Cole Callaway.  Sophomores include Madi Colson, Courtney Cox, and Quinton Isaacson.  The freshman runners are Kameron Blanding, Courtney Freed, Brooke Jensen, and Dallas Looper.

The intrasquad Time Trials (the Cross Country equivalent to a soap scrimmage) will be on Thursday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m.  The location will be the Buffalo Park Golf Course on Highway-36 in Scandia.  The girls will race 4K (2.48 miles) and the boys will race 5K (3.11 miles).  The Alumni and Community are invited to attend and may participate if they wish.  The team will have a parents’ meeting at the clubhouse after the races, approximately 8:00 p.m.

I am excited to start this season and am really looking forward to the opportunity to coach these fine young athletes.  Hopes are high for a return to the Class 1A State Meet in Wamego on October 30, 2010.
