Racing on the high banks

By now you've heard the ad, the O'reilly All Star Circuit of Champions are bring the 410 sprint cars to the Belleville High Banks. These are the FASTEST cars you'll ever see in Belleville. Paul McMahan currently owns the Sprint car record of 14.545 seconds. That's an average speed of 124 mph. Not too bad, right? Consider this... McMahan set that record in 1996. In 12 years, I can assure you, these cars are lighter and churn out more horsepower. A sticky track could litterally push a G-force limit on these drivers.

I'll throw it out there, 130 mph isn't out of the question. The cars would be clocking 13.8 seconds to average that speed. This could be fun...

Lunar Trek Run 2008

www.ultrastory.com/LunarTrek08.htm
This is a great site for ultrarunning in Kansas and beyond.
---This was a great event with some fantastic stories and experiences. The run benefitted the PVHS Cross Country Teams and was manned by volunteers from team parents and 'friends of the program'. The race was tri-directed by Richard Cox, John Neal, and our own ultrarunner Steve Breeding.

We wish to thank so many people who helped make this run a great success, including Jim and Rebecca Bohling, Katie Neal, the Bivens family-Tony, Heidi, Ty, and Cody, Mike and Leigh Gritten, Amy Cox, Jake and Mara Engelbert, Courtney Cox, Ed Kreie, Randy Ainsworth, Robert Cox, and Tyler Abell, Ellis Dunstan, Shannon Melhus, Jack Cornett, the Kaffe Haus, Purple Splash, Hammer Nutrition, Gary Henry and ultrastory.com, and of course, the Kansas City Trail Nerds and Mud Babes who arrived en masse and brought such fun and enthusiasm with them. They were our 'guinea pigs' and they were so very impressed with how nicely they were treated at the aid stations and in general by north-central Kansans.

The race was a rousing success and contributed to raising a nice amount towards the PVHS Cross Country teams. Thank you again from all who helped make the First Annual Lunar Trek Run a success. Next year's Trek will be Friday, July 10, 2009! See you all there!

Your race directors,
John Neal, Steve Breeding, and Richard Cox
