From the world of wacky sports..

Those who were there to see the Republic Co girls lose to Russell can attest, the final 2 minutes of that game were just plain...weird.  I went back and listened to my broadcast, and here's the summary of the fourth quarter.

:20 Russ's Jana Schulte layup...33-32 RC

:16  RC's Johnson 0-2 FT's

:08  Russ's Rourke gets free on the block... 34-33 Russell

(Note: with plenty of confusion, the next 8 seconds on the clock, took 6 minutes to play)

On the inbound, Celsey Beneda was stripped by Russell's Kaitlynn Walker, who immediately shot and missed.  RC's Kayley Johnson grabbed the rebound and dribbled up court.  As Johnson passed to Nutsch, RC Coach Jake Lull was awarded a timeout as Nutsch traveled.  Upon entering the huddle, RC was told the ball would be inbounded under the hoop on the right side.  The officials conversed, both amongst themselves and with Russell coach Frank Schulte, and when play was ready to resume, the officials moved the ball to the sideline in front of the Buff's bench, forcing another timeout by the Buffs.  During that timeout, the clock was reset to 3.0 seconds.  Johnson inbounded to Beneda, who missed a tough contested runner on the baseline as time expired.  Ball game.

Unreal...
